Interesting infographic here from Egress Software on data on the move – or how do you share your information? For example 94.5% say data security is overlooked when sending confidential information because the security is too complicated for the sender and recipient – yet 74.5% say they have received outlook recall messages! Two other stats to digest: 71.6% use FTP or consumer file sharing sites (such as Dropbox) to send sensitive information – and 11.7% still rely on fax or snail-mail! Having just had a dustcart take a chunk out of my wall I know what makes up most of the 11.7%. Thats presuming East Riding County Council are just the same as all of the others. I sent an initial e-mail (with photographs!) and exactly 7 working days later I received an e-mail acknowledgement of receipt of my e-mail. Progress or what.
To balance this up I should mention that once the matter was placed into the hands of their outsourced claims handlers… Gallagher Bassett.. communication was efficiency personified, most by e-mail but still with a personal touch. Wall rebuilt, builder paid and I am happy within 2 week!
