Lewis Silkin deploys BA Insight’s TotalView
BA Insight announced today that London-based law firm Lewis Silkin LLP has purchased and deployed its TotalView for Legal solution, the first packaged search-based business application developed specifically for legal organizations using the Microsoft SharePoint environment.
TotalView for Legal replaces a legacy search tool the firm had used for several years. According to Jan Durant, Director of IT & Operations at Lewis Silkin, the firm made the switch in order to lower its Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for enterprise search while adding features such as the ability to index emails stored in its KnowledgeMill file-as-you-go system, the ability to easily display other databases within SharePoint, and document preview.
“Originally we were looking at add-ons to our previous search tool that would enable us to connect SharePoint with our email system and other databases,” said Durant. “Then we discovered that with BA Insight, we could get everything we needed in one out-of-the-box package, so we decided to replace our old system entirely and simply layer TotalView for Legal on top of SharePoint and FAST. We loved the fact that BA Insight had extensive experience in the legal realm, and a solution designed specifically for legal.” Lewis Silkin lawyers use SharePoint every day, she explained. “TotalView for Legal will help them find what they need more quickly, and then easily pull together content they need to address client matters. We believe it will save significant time, and because this one tool does the work of two or three competitive products, it delivers great value to Lewis Silkin.”
TotalView for Legal is one of several packaged search-based business applications that BA Insight developed to help organizations solve information integration challenges within a particular function or line of business. Other solutions in the product line are TotalView for Sales and TotalView for Customer Service. All sit on top of SharePoint and securely integrate, normalize, and enrich content from across all enterprise systems, enabling users to engage with this content in a rich, application-style environment optimized for their specific job role, preferences and objectives. With a flexible and modular architecture, a unified underlying information framework, and seamless integration with SharePoint, IT teams can rapidly configure TotalView Applications to deliver a holistic, unified view of information.
“TotalView represents a new generation of search-based application that solve specific business challenges,” said Guy Mounier, CEO and Chairman of BA Insight. “Lewis Silkin is known as one of the most innovative firms when it comes to technology adoption, and we’re so pleased the firm selected BA Insight as its partner as it seeks to improve its search agility while lowering costs.”
