And yet more legal tech investment: DISCO raises $83m

As we try to go to press on the Orange Rag out next week yet ANOTHER interesting announcement comes out today (24 January) that we know you’ll want to hear about, as eDiscovery vendor DISCO raises $83m, bringing the total it has raised to $135m. Legal tech is now firmly on the investment fund radar – we published just today that Silicon Valley investor Accel-KKR has alongside Scottish Equity Partners invested $10m in Peppermint Technology and one of the reasons for that is that the legal tech sector is perceived by investors as a hot and still untapped opportunity. Exclusive and Trending: Peppermint Technology secures over £7m from Accel-KKR and Scottish Equity Partners

Trustify launches secure email service SMAIL

Scottish-headquartered managed security service provider Trustify, which counts Vodafone, Burger King and the Ministry of Justice among its clients,  has launched a secure email service called SMAIL, promising ‘one click’ encryption that works on both mobile and desktop.

Updated: Thomson Reuters Elite to sunset Business Development Premier

In a blow to customers of Thomson Reuters Elite Business Development Premier (rebranded as 3E Business Development) the CRM system launched in 2013 is to be sunsetted after what is understood to be a lack of significant uptake. The data engine ContactNet (now rebranded 3E Business Development Data Engine) will going forward be sold as a standalone module.
