UK

NewLaw Lancaster-based legal service provider Lawthority has selected Peppermint Technology’s integrated cloud software solution to underpin its legal process outsourcing services.

The organisation, which was founded in 2012, helps law firms to implement new business models and provides outsourcing services, which can be paid for under a managed payment plan rather than ‘cash up front.’

“We wanted to start with the best and most modern technology, so we could flex to suit our clients’ needs. Efficiency is key to our business model and to achieve that you need an integrated system where information is entered once and is available to find and reuse across the whole platform,” said Lawthority’s chief financial officer, Andrew Neal.

Peppermint’s Microsoft Dynamics-based software will enable Lawthority to design processes and workflows that accelerate effective legal administration outcomes.

Neal says Lawthority will also leverage Peppermint CX’s CRM capabilities.

With the aim of modernising court services, the London Borough of Southwark has successfully introduced paper-free Digital Courtroom technology to the London Family Court. The process, conducted in partnership with South London Legal Partnership, has gone from pilot to ‘go live’ in just over six weeks, with the first cases already heard.

The Digital Courtroom Solution is a complete software and service package, which provides all the necessary tools required to digitize the UK court system. By eliminating paper-based practices the Digital Courtrooms solution enables court processes to be streamlined, significantly reducing costs, removing the stress of missing files and boosting efficiency.

The solution combines services from three leading legal technology organisations: ProjectFusion with its secure data room system, Zylpha with its widely acclaimed e-bundling technology and technical support from South London Legal Partnership.

You can read more about the new courtroom and how it has “revolutionized the way the child care legal team functions” on our Legal IT Newswire.

Eclipse Legal Systems is implementing its Proclaim practice management software solution at DKLM Solicitors, a 10-partner central London law firm established in 2004 that has doubled in size in the last five years.

The Proclaim PMS solution will be rolled out across the conveyancing and immigration departments.

To further drive client service and streamline efficiencies within the conveyancing department, DKLM Solicitors is opting for Proclaim’s integrations with the Land Registry Business Gateway (LRBG) and LRBG Electronic Document Service.

U.S.

Cost recovery and document scanning provider nQueue has entered into an alliance with Pacific Office Automation – the largest private dealer of printers and copiers in the U.S. –  which will become a reseller for all nQueue cost recovery and document scanning and routing applications.

As a certified implementation and support partner for nQueue products, POA will also manage implementation of several nQueue components and handle level one support for its customers. POA representatives will receive training at nQueue’s offices and become nQueue certified nQueue professionals.

nQueue joins a growing list of POA’s technology partners, across the government, legal, healthcare, education and small business sectors. “We are extremely impressed with nQueue’s technology and are proud to align with innovative partners,” said Doug Pitassi, president of Pacific Office Automation. “nQueue’s solutions embed seamlessly into Konica, Canon and Ricoh devices with an intuitive interface that makes it easy to use.”

In news out of Texas, CloudNine, which provides eDiscovery automation software and professional services for litigation, investigations, and audits, has entered a partnership with Heureka Software, which gathers and analyses unstructured data. The partnership will provide legal, business, and information technology professionals an integrated solution that combines data discovery and legal discovery to harvest data insight to provide actionable legal intelligence.

“Heureka’s technology helps organisations gain clarity on their data by allowing them to search and analyse unstructured data without moving a single file,” shared Brad Jenkins, CEO of CloudNine. “This capability, when coupled with CloudNine’s eDiscovery automation software, allows organisations to gain insight on data from the point of creation and then to seamlessly conduct legal discovery with a full-featured eDiscovery platform once data is identified for preservation and collection. This true end-to-end solution spans both the information lifecycle and litigation lifecycle of data, speeding and simplifying the tasks of data and legal discovery.”

CloudNine and Heureka executives Doug Austin and Ron Copfer will be presenting an ACEDS webinar entitled “Simplified eDiscovery Automation: From Evolution to Revolution” on Thursday, November 3rd at 1pm EST. The presentation will include demonstration of the complete CloudNine/Heureka offering.

Also out of Texas, Onit, a Houston, TX-based provider of Enterprise Legal Management (ELM), has raised $8.25m in funding to further develop its software and make strategic hires.

The funding round was led by Level Equity Management with participation from Austin Ventures, The Texas Halo Fund and angel investors. Sarah Sommer, founder and partner of Level Equity, has now joined Onit’s board of directors.

Led by CEO and founder Eric M. Elfman and vice president Cole Morgan, Onit provides ELM solutions which integrate workflow and collaboration to enable legal departments to automate their processes, accelerate transaction velocity and reduce costs.

World Software Corporation has opened a Phoenix-based Worldox Support Center, having nearly doubled its customer base in recent years to over 6000 worldwide.

World Software President, Ray Zwiefelhofer said: “Due to our tremendous growth and expanding client base, a western US presence will allow us to take advantage of the time offset to better support our Australia and Asia customers.  In addition, this western U.S. presence will assist support continuity in the event of a major eastern US storm.”

Intraspexion – a start-up company that is pioneering the use of ‘deep learning’ algorithms to identify potential litigation risks – has teamed up with text retrieval provider dtSearch to scan in-house legal departments’ email and other messaging data as an early warning system.

“The use case is strong,” said Nick Brestoff, founder and CEO of Intraspexion. “Any organization can preserve net profit of a minimum of about $350,000 by identifying just one litigation risk early on, and addressing it before it turns into a lawsuit.”

F. Scott Barker, author of numerous database programming books, recipient of the Microsoft MVP Award, and a prolific dtSearch Engine third-party developer, has joined Intraspexion’s team as a co-founder.  “For the first time in decades, I joined a startup team because this is a killer app for deep learning,” said Barker.  “When combined with the power of dtSearch, Intraspexion is a dream come true for corporate and governmental users. Who doesn’t want less litigation?”

Commercial litigation funder IMF Bentham has appointed Judge Vaughn R. Walker and Mr. John Sulan QC, a former Justice of the Supreme Court of South Australia to its United States and Australian investment committees, respectively.

The judges, each of whom brings to the committees their immense experience on the bench and as legal practitioners, will enhance IMF’s risk management processes by participating in decisions about which cases the public company funds.

Favro, an online planning and collaboration tool, is launching its enterprise platform bringing agile management practices to global, large-scale workforces.

Favro Enterprise comes from the Swedish award-winning project management software firm Hansoft, which has spent the past decade designing efficient and innovative tools to enhance agile project management and team collaboration in organisations developing software and hardware products.

“We wanted to bring agile to all. Not just for product developers but also teams doing sales, marketing, executive management, everyone in the organization. With Favro Enterprise, they can now have both.”
