Sycamore goes solo

Leading legal tech sales and marketing head Kaye Sycamore has once again set up her own consultancy – Kaye Sycamore Limited – we can reveal, and will be helping vendors and law firms with their go to market strategies and transformation plans.

Most recently VP and head of global accounts at Intapp, Sycamore formally launched her new consultancy at the start of this week (13 August) after a well-timed period in the garden. Sycamore caused some excitement in the legal tech sector by rejoining Intapp in February 2017 from Peppermint Technologies in order to help launch Intapp’s consultancy arm and restructure the handling of global accounts, which were previously managed by a dedicated global accounts team but as of 1 July sit within their natural regional teams.

She told Legal IT Insider: “This is something I’ve been thinking about for years and it’s a good time in the market and a good time for me. When John [Hall] asked me to go back to Intapp it was only ever on an interim basis, acting as an interim caretaker for global accounts while we moved them back to the regions and to help set up the consultancy: I completed the brief.”

Sycamore, who is from New Zealand and will use the extra flexibility of consultancy to spend more time with her family, says that she wants to use skills accumulated over the many years working in legal to help corporates and potentially law firms develop their go to market or transformative strategies. She told us: “I’m not just sales, I’m marketing and product too and my USP is how much I know about the legal industry. It’s the transformative stuff I’m really good at whether that be kickstarting sales or moving from on premises to SaaS, or entering new markets or geographies.”

Sycamore has worked in the legal sector since the late 80s and was headhunted by Thomson Reuters Elite in 2003 to spearhead the company’s market development in Asia Pacific, taking over responsibility for EMEA sales in 2006. She consulted with Tikit on structural changes to its sales team in 2009 before moving to Intapp for the first time in 2010 as regional VP (Asia and EMEA).
