The Legal IT Insider Top 200 DMS report is now available to download as a free PDF!

In our October newsletter we published an extensive report setting out which law firms in the US Top 200 use which document management system, and we analysed the market share of the key players, in particular, iManage and NetDocuments, which we concluded are entering something of a two-horse race.

That research is now available to download as a PDF on the Legal IT Insider website. I attach a link below to the full report, which includes interviews with the CIOs of Baker Botts and Littler Mendelson. Here are some of the headline findings:

In the US Top 100:

iManage has 70 sites; NetDocuments has 17 sites; OpenText has 12 sites; SharePoint has one site.

In the US Top 101-200

iManage has 71 sites; NetDocuments has 16 sites; OpenText has 12 sites; Worldox has one site.

NetDocuments’ penetration across the bottom and top half of the US Top 200 is surprisingly even, with a total Top 200 market share of 16.5%. iManage retains 70.5% of the Top 200.

The report analyses how that breaks down across the US Top 50; 50-100; 100-150; and 150-200 segments, with some fairly surprising results.

We list NetDocuments’ top 15 largest biggest global clients, which include Goulston & Storrs; Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld; Crowell & Moring; King & Spalding; and Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton.

And we list the US Top 200 swap outs to NetDocuments in the 12 months preceding the report, which include King & Spalding; Littler Mendelson; Akin Gump; Sheppard Mullin; and Haynes and Boone.

Our detailed commentary and analysis in the report is the result not just of interviews with iManage and NetDocuments but of leading CIOs, consultants and vendors, many of whom are quoted in the report.
