So what’s the job?

You’ll be the IT person – the main technical point of contact for everyone in our London office. We’re not just looking for someone to react to IT problems, we’re looking for someone pro-active who enjoys engaging with our people. The role is varied and you may find yourself assisting a new legal secretary who has just joined, setting up the technical equipment for the events team, assisting a client set up their equipment or rolling out a new system (we have an ambitious list of new systems and equipment we would like to roll out) and yes – replacing the keyboard of someone who has spilt coffee again.

We have a Service Desk who deal with first line queries (based in Plymouth) and they need to be able to escalate queries to you. Our London office has grown in size over the past year with almost 100 staff based across 2 floors. Some of our board members, key partners and directors are also based in London as well as our events team. You will be part of a wider national IT team.

Who will I work with?

In short you’ll work with everyone in London but you are the only IT person based here. You’ll join forces with the Guest Services and Facilities teams to ensure the smooth running of the office. We have Level 2 Analysts in all of our offices (apart from Aberdeen) with a Team Leader based in Newcastle. So you’ll be in regular contact with your team, the Service Desk, Level 3 Analysts and the Management team who are based across Plymouth, Newcastle and Bristol.

You’ll work closely with the relevant Level 3 Analysts bridging the knowledge and assisting with the deployment of desktop software releases. You’ll need to follow standard processes to meet agreed quality criteria so that the software operates soundly in our live environment.

Ok so what qualifications and experience do I need?

This is a challenging role so naturally we have a ‘wish list’ of essential skills. It stands to reason that you’ll have a strong technical background which includes a working knowledge of Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010. It is also essential that you have experience of using, configuring and deploying applications and desktops using Microsoft SMS or Systems Centre Configuration Manager. It would be a distinct advantage if you have experience of involvement in deploying large scale projects. What is also crucial for success in this role is a real can-do attitude towards problem solving, a strong emphasis on team-work, an ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing.

You’ll benefit from knowledge sharing within the team and will naturally embrace new technologies, ideas and our business requirements. We need someone who is flexible, with a forward thinking approach, the ability to work to tight deadlines and the drive and desire to make a clear difference within our firm.
